The app, called OneDrive Photos, is appearing on PCs through regular Windows updates or updates to the existing OneDrive client instead of as a standalone download you choose from the store. Many users are simply finding it already present on their machines, despite never explicitly installing it.
At its core, OneDrive Photos is designed to act as a central hub for your pictures. It scans and indexes images stored locally on the computer and then layers on AI-powered tools to make those photos easier to search and organize. Unlike the traditional OneDrive client, which is mainly about file syncing, this app is focused specifically on photos and visual data.
